Characteristics of Successful Entrepreneurs
It seems like today with the internet making it so easy everyone is an entrepreneur. The reality is though that
only a select few really become successful.
Entrepreneurs come from all walks of life and are all ages, races and sexes but the successful ones have a few
key attributes that make them successful and set them apart from the rest.
1) Thick Skinned - Being successful means you have to fail a lot. For every big win you score you probably have
3-4 failed attempts that lay just before it. The difference between those that succeed and those that do not is the
ability to pick themselves back up and keep going. A successful entrepreneur knows that each failure bring you
closer to success.
2) Love What You Do - People are able to make the most obscure businesses extremely successful for one simple
reason, they have an unmistakable passion for what they are doing. Real passion for something transcends in
everything you do and it is contagious.
3) Be Disciplined - When you have a boss it is easy to stay disciplined because you know there is someone
sitting over your shoulder that has certain expectations. When you are the boss that discipline can be much harder
to come by but it is essential to success.
4) Jack of all Trades - If you are starting a new business the reality is most if not all of the work is going
to fall on your shoulders. That means not only do you have to be an expert in your own business you also have to be
a salesperson, an accountant and maybe even a shipping agent. You need to be versatile enough to get all the jobs
done.
5) Fiscally Responsible - Although running your own business is very rewarding it can be very unstable. Small
changes can have big impacts on your bottom line. So it is important to always plan for the future and make sure
you have cash reserves to make it through lean times and also to make sure you putting enough of your profits back
into your business to keep it growing.
6) Committed - Being an entrepreneur is not for the weary. It often requires very long hours and is much more
time consuming than a traditional job. Be prepared to commit yourself or be prepared to fail.
Making sure you are financially and emotionally ready to be able to do these things will do a lot to ensure the
success of your business. So dream big but plan and implement effectively and your business will be running like a
well oiled machine in no time.
